Space wasted no more!
I’ve been trying to figure out how to use the strange space beside the fridge since we moved in and was WISHING that ikea made something that would fit on the wall that matched these shelves I bought for the other side of the kitchen.

But, no such luck. Too big, too small, but nothing that would fit. Then, one summer afternoon I walked into my friend London’s house and saw amazing custom shelves everywhere. Her husband, Spencer, built them. BUILT. With his hands. And tools! So, I sent over a photo of what I was thinking of to see if he might be able to make ME some cool shelves. He said he could and would…and DID!! They brought them over last night and installed them (how’s that for service?). And I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I’m still playing with arranging the foofy stuff, but here’s the before photo of the space:
And the installation…
And the AFTER! I SO love them! All of my serving dishes have a home! YAY!
I need to play a bit more with the accent pieces and vary heights a little, but that’s the fun part. Spencer did and AMAZING job at half the price of the Ikea shelves! These are FAR better. And I love them so much that I’m going to rope him into doing a vanity cabinet for the bathroom next. How convenient it is to have a wood worker as a back door neighbor!
THANKS A TON, Spencer and London!!

I love this and it’s exactly what I’m going to do in a little nook area in our kitchen. I’m wondering if you know how they mounted the shelves to the wall? I have a few ideas but I wanted to see how you guys did it. Please let me know when you can, thanks!

Haeley, the middle vertical slats are hollow. They mounted two triangle brackets to the wall and slid the hollow parts of the shelves over them. I’m not explaining well, but the shelves are on hidden brackets.
