I sewed! Dining Room Before and After

I have decided to pretend I know how to sew. I bought a fairly inexpensive machine and now I am a pro. OK, maybe not, but I did sew a bunch of pretty straight seams for these valances. Here are a couple of before and after photos of our dining room. I’m liking the round table a LOT!

Before, with the curtains and rods that came with the house…(Thanksgiving one year ago!)

After…(this morning!)

The black trim is hot glued on. I’m not THAT great at sewing!

After this, I’m positive I could sew a wedding dress. Anyone need one? HA!

I’ve been browsing DIY blogs A LOT lately and feel completely motivated that there is A LOT that us simple folk can do at home–and you just solidified the feeling with these great valances. You rock! :)

Also, I was noticing your 21 day challenge and saw that on day 12 you indexed your closets in excel. If you mean that literally, that’s some serious organization!! I need to come by your house and take a look around. I have a feeling I could learn some great tips and tricks!

    Kami,
The index I made was where I’d LIKE things to be. They’re not there yet. :) When we moved in we shoved a lot of stuff in closets and now that we’ve closed we have to figure out where it all should be. Ken and I have different ideas of efficient use of closet space, though so it’s been interesting. I really have been researching and working on getting things in order, so I do have a few tricks I’ve learned from other people. I’d love to share them anytime.

hahhaha. If I were getting married you would be my first call!!!

I LOVE this. I can’t sew AT ALL but maybe I could find someone who could sew some valances for me! Window treatments are the last thing I ever get to!
