Having some google fun!

We’ve been considering buying a home lately and I’ve been using google maps so much I have become quite attached to it. Several times a day I fly over neighborhoods checking out potential properties. I know pretty much every feature…so it was a little bit of a shock when a new button appeared before my eyes the other day! What is this?/ Street view??? Couldn’t help but click on it and up pops a panoramic view of the home I was checking out! I could ‘drive’ up the street and check out the neighborhood, turn aound and see the home from the side…whatever can be viewed from the street…I saw!

Apparently this has been available in major cities for some time but it has jUST recently become available in my area. This is SUCH a fun feature. Some people think it’s too much, but I tend to live by the mantra that if you don’t want what you do to be public…don’t do it in a public place! Let’s face it…if you’re out in your sweats weeding your garden, any neighbor, stranger or car with a camera on it can drive by and see you AND record you if they so desire. So…either deal with people seeing you in your sweats or don’t leave your front door without makeup and heels on. That simple.

I imagine there will be a few people who get in trouble for being in the wrong place when that little camera car drove by though. For me…it’s just my wheel barrow sitting in my unweeded garden. So far… I LOVE the new feature. wheelbarrow

Last night dh and I were looking at our neighborhood via Google Earth. The cool thing is that dh introduced me to Google Earth way back when.

I felt so cool when (because of this post) I introduced him to “street view” he was so amazed with my knowing a new Google Earth feature - and what a cool feature it is!

I don’t think he is going to get over it for at least a week! lol. Thanks for sharing this - it was cool to learn something about GE before dh!

btw, we could street view every place around here except our own street - I thought that was really interesting…fun tool!
