So, I decided to let my 3 year old laptop live out what’s left of its existence in the hands of my kids. It will now be a glorified portable DVD player, and game machine for the car, I suspect.

In its place…a brand spankin’ new HP Pavillion tx1000 custom Tablet PC.

So far, it’s been quite fun. It’s smaller than I’m used to, but it’s more portable! I’ll have to wear my glasses more I guess! The BEST part is the pen input!! It’s perfect for selection in PS CS3. It doesn’t have the pressure sensitivity of the Wacom tablet, so I’ll still need to use that for some vector stuff like drawing in illustrator. But how cool is it to be able to trace around an object ON THE SCREEN!!

The handwriting recognition is pretty good too. It has improved over the years and is actually functional now. My kids like to test its abilities by scribbling to see what word it comes up with.

A full review is in the works, but I will tell you that I recommend this for anyone considering a laptop for Digital Scrapbooking!!
